As Morpheus and Neo are walking down the hallway to see the Oracle, Neo says to him, "I know what you're trying to do."
Morpheus replies to Neo, "I’m trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it."
A moment later, they stand before the door to the Oracle's apartment.
Morpheus believed Neo to be "The One."
Neo did not.
Morpheus could not force Neo to accept Morpheus' belief. Neo needed to come to the conclusion of who he was all by himself. Others, such as the Oracle, could assist Neo on his journey, but nothing changed in Neo's life until he believed.
"Neo" is also an anagram of "one," a reference to his destiny of being The One who would bring peace.
Isaiah 9:6, a Messianic prophecy, says, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, [and] Prince of Peace."
Jesus is the One
In John 10:9, Jesus declared, "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture."
This is one of several "I am" statements that Jesus made. In using the term, Jesus was recalling the conversation Moses had with God atop Mt. Sinai.
Exodus 3:13-4a records, "Then Moses said to God, 'If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, 'I am who I am.'"
While these verses and hundreds more show that Jesus is the "Savior of the world," no one can be forced to believe it.
They need to come to their own belief.
As believers in Jesus, we are to show them the way by making disciples, as Matthew 28:18-20 tells us.
"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Be Like Morpheus
Like Morpheus, we can only show people the door (or gate).
In Romans 12:2, Paul is talking to believers when he wrote, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
Just like non-believers, believers need a renewed mind.
It is that renewed (or open) mind that will allow them to see themselves as they really are: sinners in need of a Savior.
Every human was created by God.
Every human has value because of that fact.
Every human has sinned against God and will spend eternity separated from God in a real place called Hell.
Every human must repent (change their mind), acknowledge their sins, and put their faith in Jesus and His completed work.
Those of us who have declared Jesus as Lord and Savior need to be like Morpheus and show people the way to Jesus.

Movie Rating and Review
The Motion Picture Association gave this movie a rating of R.
As a Christian, there certainly portions of this movie that are the opposite of Philippians 4:8 where Paul tells us, "Finally, brothers [and sisters], whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
I am aware that some of my fellow believers may not watch this film in its entirety. Hopefully, the scene and quote used in this devotional post allows someone to hear a non-believer make reference to this movie or quote and you, my fellow believer, can then use this devotional to bring in the Biblical truth this devotional shares.

My Review
I give this movie a thumbs up and 5 stars.
The action and martial arts scenes are mind bending. Since they are inside a computer program, it is easier to deal with the vast amounts of violence.
