I'd love to hear from you...why not get in touch?

Who I Was

As someone born in the middle of what is now called GenX, I grew up watching the Original Star Wars. While I missed A New Hope in theaters, I remember going to see both Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in the theaters.

I ran around my suburban neighborhood using sticks for lightsabers and rocks for thermo detonators. I wanted to be Luke Skywalker, or at least a Jedi.

I started attending church in middle school and had a wonderful youth group experience my junior and senior years of high school.

I was "on fire for Jesus" during my teens. I read my Bible daily.

I asked so many questions in my youth Sunday school class and at Youth Group, my youth leaders bought me my own Strong's Concordance.

I went to a Christian college. I married my wife whom I met in youth group. I even spent a semester at a seminary.

The thermostat dropped a few degrees as I enter the work force.

I still spent time going deep into God's Word. I had book cases full of commentaries, Bible dictionaries, and early church history books.

I taught various Sunday School classes. I was ordained as a deacon.

Eventually I suffered a lot of "church hurt" and became a "missing person" in my church.

I stopped going to "Sunday School" even though I continued to go to church. After service, I would find a quite place to read or journal.

My Bible reading become occasional and then almost nonexistent.

Who I AM Now

Now, I am in the process of overcoming the "church hurt" I experienced for more than two decades.

I am reading devotionals daily that take 4-6 minutes to read.

I found that "missing person" I once was. I'm becoming that boy Michael W. Smith sung about back in 1998.

There was a boy who had the faith to move a mountain
And like a child he would believe without a reason
Without a trace he disappeared into the void and
I've been searchin' for that missing person.
~Michael W. Smith's "Missing Person from 1998

I am praying (aka having conversations with) God throughout the day on a daily basis.

Can spend hours again in researching movie quotes and how to connect them to the Bible and then work them into every day conversations.

I found the following quote online that sums up where I am. "I love Jesus but I can’t play the church game anymore."

I am tired of the old ways of trying to evangelize.

We live in a post-Christian America. People no longer know much about the Bible. What they think they know is often in accurate or a caricature of the Bible.

I am on mission to share the Gospel of Jesus with the world using movie quotes to start the conversation.
