Attack of the Clones: The dark side clouds everything.

Sitting in the Chancellor’s space but opulent office, Palpatine discusses with several Jedi Masters the growing number of star systems defecting to the Separatists.

Mace Windu mentions there are not enough Jedi to protect the Republic. Palpatine then asks Yoda if he thinks it will come to war.

Yoda replies, "The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the future is."

No One Knows The Future

When it comes to seeing the future, no Christian can see it.

Many throughout history have tried to predict the future, only to have to admit they were wrong or "miscalculated" and will have an updated prediction after they "reevaluate things."

The desire to know the future is as old as time.

In the New Testament, the disciples were no different from the others. They wanted to know the future and when the kingdom that Jesus discussed would come to be.

In Matthew 24:1-3 we read, “Jesus left the temple and was going away, when His disciples came to point out to Him the buildings of the temple. But He answered them, ‘You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.’ As He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, ‘Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?’”

Jesus spends a considerable amount of time talk with His disciples about the signs of the End of the Age, the Abomination of Desolation, and the coming of the Son of Man.

Then in Matthew 24:36 we read, “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”

The inability to see the future or the end times is not clouded by the "dark side," but it is left to the sovereignty of God.

Look at the following verses to see what Scripture promises God will provide.

Matthew 6:31-33 declares, “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

1 John 2:17 tells us, “And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”

In John 10:27-30, Jesus answered the Jews, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one."

There is no need to fear the future since we know who holds the future in His hands.

Movie Rating and Review

The Motion Picture Association gave this movie a rating of PG because of for sci-fi action/violence.

PG Rated

As a Christian, there certainly portions of this movie that are the opposite of Philippians 4:8 where Paul tells us, "Finally, brothers [and sisters], whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

I am aware that some of my fellow believers may not watch this film in its entirety. Hopefully, the scene and quote used in this devotional post allows someone to hear a non-believer make reference to this movie or quote and you, my fellow believer, can then use this devotional to bring in the Biblical truth this devotional shares.

My Review

I give this movie as thumbs up and 4 stars.

Seeing how whiny Anakin Skywalker is in this movie explains why his son Luke is such a whiner. Like Episode I, this has grown on me.
