After Han, Qi'Ra, and the rest of Beckett's gang stole the coaxium the Pyke Syndicate had on Kessel, the made their way to Savareen.
While they waited for the coaxium to be processed, Han tried to reignite his relationship with Qi'Ra.
He no more begins before she stops Han and says, "It can't happen."
Her reply prompts Han to ask, "Because you're with Dryden?"
She admits she is not with him romantically but owes him a significant debt and then tells Han, "Everyone serves somebody, Han."
Han was serving himself and his desires, while Qi'Ra was serving Dryden Vos because of the help he provided her years earlier.
We All Serve Somebody
We see the same happening in our world.
The options of who we serve have been the same from the time of Adam and Eve.
We will either serve God or something that is not God.
Jesus warned us in Matthew 6:24 when He told us, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money (or mammon)."
The decisions that we make and the lives we lead are evidence of who we are serving. The one that we serve is a decision that is made each day.
Jesus said in Luke 9:23, "If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me."
Be Like Joshua
In Joshua 24:15, we read part of Joshua's farewell address to the nation of Israel, "And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (emphasis added)
It is impossible for us to make this decision every day to serve God on our own.
The good news is that in Lamentations 3:22-23, we read, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
It can't happen.

Movie Rating and Review
The Motion Picture Association gave this movie a rating of PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action/violence.
As a Christian, there certainly portions of this movie that are the opposite of Philippians 4:8 where Paul tells us, "Finally, brothers [and sisters], whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
I am aware that some of my fellow believers may not watch this film in its entirety. Hopefully, the scene and quote used in this devotional post allows someone to hear a non-believer make reference to this movie or quote and you, my fellow believer, can then use this devotional to bring in the Biblical truth this devotional shares.

My Review
I give this movie a thumbs down and only 3 stars.
Of the 11 Star Wars live-action movies to date, this is my least favorite. The "Han Solo" portrayed here is embarassing compared to how Harrison Ford protrayed him in the other movies.
